Solar infrastructure for refugee camps
a sustainable solution to a modern crisis.
Elpis (Greek: hope) has developed a unique solar-powered mobile phone charging station ("Solar Hub"), as well as an offline information platform for implementation in refugee camps. By empowering refugees to stay connected to loved ones, they can maintain a lifeline - and hope.
SAFE, SUSTAINABLE ELECTRICITY
Instead of relying on high-emission generators we provide a lightweight and low-carbon solution that is robust and easily transportable.
Currently our hub hosts medical, legal and educational information. We are building an open-source community that will soon be open to developers, companies and non-profits to add their own services.
OVER 65,000 PEOPLE REACHED
Each of our Solar Hubs charges up to 3,600 phones every month. With our current reach, we're already making a big impact - and we're on the fast track towards more.
We are a direct-impact organisation with every cent going straight to the people who need it the most.
